The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prisons Department is state-owned department of the KPK government and is accountable to the CM KPK through its minister.
The purpose of the KPK prisons department is to be model-driven and professional. It aims to return of the criminal / culprits to their families as responsible and useful citizens.
To achieve this purpose KPK prisons department initiated reformation and rehabilitation centers for prisoners counseling to maintain discipline as a useful citizen.
The department works practically to complete its slogan “hate for crimes but not for criminals”. As it is a fact that no one can protect society by arresting criminals but we can do so by providing humanity and education.
The department arranges different seminars and training to assist the criminals in becoming useful citizens.
For this purpose, Holy Quran education is made compulsory for all the prisoners. Good counselors and teachers are hired to teach the prisons how to earn a livelihood through vocational education.
The department provides a safe, secure environment as well as basic needs e.g. education, food, and medication.
KPK prisons department has started some initiatives
- Hospitals and dispensaries for emergency medication.
- Availability of both doctors and ambulance.
- Computerized prison information system for the safety of prisoners.
- Separate rooms for convicted persons.
- Separate waiting sheds for men and women.
The selection procedure consists of Application process (complete online application form), Test, and an Interview. Selected candidates will go through training.
